May 15th Journal

It is less than two weeks till the big day!!! Jason and I had a fantastic week.

First, we had another amazing visit to ESPN. We were on the air with Mike and Mike on Tuesday. They gave us our new ESPN mobile phones. How cool!! We chatted about the planning of the wedding and how crazy busy our life has been. After we were on air, I headed to see Kathy Faber, who is making my wedding dress. The fitting went great and I am looking forward to the next fitting on May 18th. The dress looks fantastic. Jason had lunch with Larry and Mike Greenberg to discuss the final details of the wedding reception. It is going to be a grand event.

Second, we had our bachelor/bachelorette weekend courtesy of ESPN 760 Radio, Posh Salon, Hammock Creek Golf Course and Sofa Kings. Friday during the day, I brought my mom, my aunt and friends to Posh Salon in Boynton Beach. We were pampered with manicures, pedicures, massages, facials and more. ESPN 760 then had a party for us from 5pm to 9pm at Sofa Kings. It was well attended by our family and friends. ESPN 760 presented us with a signed jersey by all members of the University of Florida NCAA champion basketball team. Unbelievable!! Saturday was Jason turn to play golf with the guys. ESPN 760 broadcasted live from Hammock Creek and then Jason and friends headed to the course for a friendly golf tournament. My mom and I headed to one of my favorite shopping spots, C. Orrico in Palm Beach. The C. Orrico girls are so excited and gave me some great wedding gifts. While shopping, just to add to the excitement, I got a call from my brother Pete who was thrilled to tell me that I became an aunt. The newest gator, Ethan Blake Bennett, was born on Saturday, May 13th, 2006. My family is blessed to have so many wonderful events occuring!!

I am looking forward to our last trip to Bristol before the wedding. I am heading up this Thursday for the final dress fitting. Cannot wait to see my dress.

Stay tuned for the next journal entry, just before the big day!!!!

May 8th Journal

It is less than three weeks until the big day. We both are extremely excited about the wedding, but have been extremely busy with our real jobs, volunteer work, and attending sporting events. Thank goodness ESPN Radio is planning the wedding.

We are currently planning three major events for the Palm Beach Gator Club: Gator Gathering with Coach Meyer on May 17th, International Gator Day on May 20th and our Scholarship Golf Tournament on June 10th. We also just finished volunteering over 60 hours from May 3rd to 7th for Sunfest, Florida's largest music, art and waterfront festival.

To add to the hoopla, the Palm Beach Post wrote a great article about us on Saturday and our local ESPN Radio 760 is throwing a bachelor/bachelorette weekend party for us on May 12th - 13th in West Palm Beach. During the day on the 12th, ESPN 760 has set up a spa day for my girlfriends and me. The evening of the 12th they are throwing a party at a local restaurant for all to attend. On Saturday the 13th, Jason is playing golf with friends a couple of the ESPN Radio personalities. WOW!!

We managed to catch Game 5 of the Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls game down in Miami. Dwyane Wade battled through a tough injury to lead the Heat to victory. The Heat followed up with a nice victory in Chicago to close out the series. We hope to catch a home game vs the Nets over the next week.

One thing we both agree on is that working our jobs, managing all the volunteer events, and even running errands has never been so much fun or in some cases taken so long. While doing any of the above, we end up either telling the story to new friends, or catching up old friends on all the details. It has been truly a great experience.

Thanks ESPN Radio, Mike and Mike and all who are planning our big day. We are looking forward to it. We will see you guys on May 9th for our next visit to Bristol.

April 26th Journal

It is one month till the big day, my dream wedding and of course, my birthday. Holy Moly!!! We just got back from another amazing trip. Not Bristol this time, but Gainesville. We arrived in Gainesville on Friday night, just in time for the Orange and Blue (spring game) pep rally. We were introduced to a crowd of students, alumni and rowdy gators. We thanked everyone from the bottom of our hearts for voting for us and invited everyone to our tailgate the next day. After walking off the stage, we stood by Coach Meyer and a few fellow Gator football players. Coach Meyer congratulated us and said, "So you're the couple that won that Mike and Mike contest." How cool!! The next day we tailgated with family, old friends, and many new friends. The media found its way to our tailgate for a few interviews with us and fellow gators. Everyone shared different stories of how they watched and listened to Mike and Mike throughout the contest. Some Gators were as anxious as we were waiting for each rounds announcement. We had an amazing time talking with everyone all weekend. What a blast! It's great to be a Florida Gator. By the way, our football team looks pretty good. Four months till kickoff!!

We are home in Jupiter for the next couple of weeks. We hope to try and catch our breath. Our next trip to Bristol is on May 8th and 9th for my wedding dress fitting, and to finalize Jason's tuxedo. We are having an amazing time and look forward to sharing more stories in the near future.

April 20th Journal

It has been two weeks since Mike and Mike announced "Catherine and Jason" as the Marriage Madness winning couple. A few words to describe that moment at 7:40am on April 6th would be utter shock, amazement and then excitement. We were both convinced our names were not going to be called. We felt that was the plan. Oh, were we wrong!! We must say it felt good to be wrong.

We have since been on a whirlwind adventure telling our story to reporters in newspaper, television, radio and of course to our friends and family. It is awesome that so many people are as excited as we are and want to know the details.

The day after we won, we spent about on hour chatting with the wedding team at ESPN. We both know that the wedding and reception are going to be truly spectacular. We flew back to ESPN on April 16th. We were on air with Mike and Mike. We love those guys. We spent the next two days talking to the media and choosing our engagement rings, the wedding flowers, the wedding cakes, the wedding dress, the tuxes, hair and nails, our rehearsal dinner location and acquired our marriage license. We were fortunate to do this from the comfort of a chauffeured driven limousine. Thanks to ESPN and everyone who assisted us!!!

After now spending numerous days at ESPN over the last two weeks, we both do not want to leave. It feels pretty good hanging out in Bristol. Oh well, we must head home again because this weekend we are off to Gainesville for the annual Orange and Blue game. We will report back on our week ahead. In the meantime, thanks to all who voted for us and Go Gators.

A special thanks go out to Larry, Becci, Lucy, Lisa and of course Mike and Mike for making us feel at home when visiting ESPN. We look forward to our next trip back in early May and then the big day... May 26th.

Stay tuned for more journal entries from Catherine as her wedding approaches.
